Lapidary Courses …..

What is Lapidary?

If you are looking for an exciting new hobby or maybe expanding your skills within the jewellery making field, then this is for you. It could be that you want to try out the equipment before you invest in a set up of your own, or you just fancy having a go at something new.

Do I need to be artistic?

No. With expert guidance everyone who attends will be able to cut their own, jewellery grade gemstone cabochon (which means a flat back and domed top).

Is it dangerous?

You will be shown how to use all the equipment safely. When guidelines are followed it’s perfectly safe. However due to the nature of the equipment, the course is only available to those over 16 years.

Can I bring a friend?

Definitely! The courses are designed for either one person alone or two people together. With such a well equipped workshop, you will both be using different machines simultaneously meaning no waiting around.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Yes. We can accommodate one or two wheelchair users together.

Do I need to bring anything?

Yes, a packed lunch. Everything else is provided. You will have a huge selection of rock material to choose from and an option to purchase a commercially made jewellery setting in which to glue one of your beautiful, hand cut gemstones. Tea, coffee and snacks will be available all day.

So, now you know the basics…why not have a go?

Lapidary is the art of gem cutting. Now you have the chance to try it yourself at ‘The Cheshire Lapidary Workshop.’
